This should have been a slam dunk -- where is CODA?!?.

• Benise Yarde, Simon Chase, James Mather, Niv Adiri, Belfast

  • The disturbing part of an otherwise uplifting movie was provided by the sound.

• Mac Ruth, Mark Mangini, Theo Green, Doug Hemphill, Ron Bartlett, Dune

  • The "thoughts" and the worm-sound were awesome (unlike the 1984 mess). Still, sci-fi and fantasy often get undue consideration in this category, given Hollywood's hesitance to support these genres for Best Pic. 

• Simon Hayes, Oliver Tarney, James Harrison, Paul Massey, Mark Taylor, No Time to Die

  • Can't support a martini movie during Lent.

• Richard Flynn, Robert Mackenzie, Tara Webb, The Power of the Dog

  • Pretty intense, and the sound editing contributed, but really (like WSS), it was the music.

• Tod A. Maitland, Gary Rydstrom, Brian Chumney, Andy Nelson, Shawn Murphy, West Side Story

  • Music is not sound. No hardware.
