Directing
Had an interesting discussion about the etymology of the name of the conflict in Northern Ireland known as The Troubles. A colleague thought it very British to use such a minimizing term to refer to years of violence and terrorism. I agreed with the "very British" part, but thought it was more of a throw-back to The Empire (see?) in the way that they refer to their major golf event as "The Open". Hey, we call a baseball tournament between 1 and 1/30th countries The World Series -- guess the apple doesn't fall far from the Empire.

Took a dark subject -- The aforementioned Troubles -- and made it both touching and uplifting. Can he make a movie about 9/11 next?

Points for remaking a movie none of us thought should be touched! Should've known this would be great, since the late Stephen Sondheim visited Spielberg and approved of the new version.
